Taurus TMAX-RC is a fast-curing, 100% solids, solventfree ceramic epoxy coating designed to protect metal surfaces exposed to extreme industrial conditions, particularly applications involving severe abrasion, intense wear, and high impact. It provides excellent chemical resistance to a wide range of acidic and caustic solutions. Its consistency allows for easy application using a plastic broom or trowel in layers up to 1,000 mils thick without sagging.
Allows application in layers up to 1,000 mils thick without sliding or sagging.
Compatible with a variety of substrates, including steel, bronze, aluminum, and concrete.
Provides effective protection against corrosion and abrasive wear.

Surface Preparation
Proper surface preparation is essential to ensure the long-term performance of this product. The exact preparation requirements will vary depending on the severity of the service conditions, the expected service life, and the initial condition of the substrate. The minimum acceptable preparation is mechanical surface preparation to St 2/St 3. For optimum performance, the surface should be completely clean and free of contaminants, with a rough, angular anchor profile of 75–125 μm (3–5 mils). This is normally achieved through initial cleaning and degreasing, followed by abrasive blasting to Near-White Metal cleanliness (Sa 2½). All residual abrasive material and dust must then be completely removed from the surface before application.
Mixing
Mix the activator well in the base with the mixing rod scraping the sides and the bottom of the container. Mix by weight 2 parts Base to 1 part of Activator. Mix thoroughly to produce a uniform and without stripes. Never put solvents.
Application
Use a heavy-duty plastic brush or putty knife to apply the material at a minimum thickness of 6 mm. Work the material firmly into the substrate profile to maximize adhesion and remove any trapped air. Shape and contour the material as required using a putty knife or plastic applicator. When using a mold or form, coat its surface with a suitable release agent to prevent the material from adhering.
Application Temperature:
Keep between 55 and 95°F (17 to 35°C). Substrate: keep between 45 and 105°F (7 to 40°C). The temperature difference of the substrate and material should never exceed 10°F (5°C). The substrate shall be at least 5°F (3°C) above the dew point. Do not apply if the relative humidity exceeds 90%. If necessary, heat the metal before surface preparation using electric heater or heat lamp. Never use gas, oil or kerosene heaters, as they will leave a greasy residue on the metal surface. For best results, keep all material in the warm zone overnight (75°F+) for easy mixing.
