RA Taurus TX1 – Bar Mill Inlet – Peru
Bar Mill loading inlet was suffering from extreme abrasion. Taurus TX1 was used to coat the surface at a thickness of around half an inch.
This project had 3 requirements for success. The coating applied needed to have extremely high adhesion (Taurus TX1 has 4700psi of adhesion strength) because of the constant drag force caused the minerals constantly sliding through the inlet. It needed high impact resistance as the bars in the ball mill will inevitably collide with the coating throughout its operation. Finally it required extreme abrasion resistance to protect the surface from the constant inflow of iron rock (the Taurus TX1 has ceramic beads with a Moss Hardness of 9, only losing to diamonds which are a 10).
