Coal Mine
RA Taurus TX5 – Coal Mine Chute
Colombia
Ceramic liners protecting chute were damaged and required some kind of repair to keep operating. Taurus TX5 was applied directly on top of the ceramic plates with little to no cleaning.
This project had 3 requirements for success. The coating applied needed to have extremely high adhesion because of the constant drag force caused the minerals and the ceramic substrate having low roughness by nature. It needed high impact resistance as minerals will inevitably collide with the coating throughout its operation. Finally it required extreme abrasion resistance to protect the surface from the constant inflow of coal (the Taurus TX5 has ceramic beads with a Moss Hardness of 9, only losing to diamonds which are a 10).
